For Swisscom's own services, 2 data centers with 1,000m2 each were built in 2 stages from 2012-2018. Thanks to their modular design, these data centers are highly flexible in terms of expansion. In addition to high reliability in operation, emphasis was placed on optimized operating costs and sustainability right from the planning stage, which has proven its worth in every aspect since commissioning. Between 2014 and 2020, a further 4 DataCenters with a total area of around 4,000m2 were built for telehousing customers, and they are being continuously expanded.

In addition, the main site in Zurich-Herdern is being continuously renovated and expanded. Here, Swisscom offers comprehensive data center services for third-party customers. At the end of the lifecycle of a DC generation, the interior of the building is dismantled floor by floor down to the shell in order to adapt the spatial program and the technology to the evolving needs of the customers.

MBA managed these projects and was responsible for advising the client on the coordination of further construction projects at the Zurich-Herdern site.
