A data center for the functions of subsidiary star nodes, data storage and servers currently being built at the ETH Hönggerberg site. The new data center HRZ will thus replace variously located and outdated data centers, also catering for new requirements.
In an open procedure according to GATT / WTO, a suitable general planning team, consisting of general manager, architect, landscape architect and civil engineer, was sought for the planning and realization of the new building.
In MBA's design, simple floor layouts with minimal circulation areas allow for the compact structure envisioned in the campus master plan. The arrangement of the spaces and their references result from the logic of the user groups. A conventional support structure will accommodate user requirements for column-free IT spaces and high spatial flexibility. This simple structure and an easily prefabricated building envelope allow for a rapid completion time.
